Hacking Your Way to Additional Revenue
We all love to create new programs that meet the social, physical and wellness goals of the community and individuals. The next step is to review how to reduce costs and identify how to increase revenue which does not just mean increasing the price/fees. By reviewing market conditions and the needs of user’s revenue may be increased!! Several “hacks” will be identified that can be implemented in your operation to gain this needed revenue.

Changing Your Culture: One Step at a Time
Increasingly organizations are seeking to understand, develop and cultivate an organizational culture. Culture can be defined as an approach to service, management and leadership which effects how residents are appreciated or viewed. This session will address how to develop a culture, the pitfalls and benefits of embracing a culture of service and how a culture can assist in creating new opportunities that will increase the effectiveness of delivering services.

Meet Our Speaker: Chris Nunes |
Chris Nunes, CPRE is the Director of Parks and Recreation for The Woodlands Township, in The Woodlands, Texas. In that position, a $37.9 million operational budget and is accountable for the management of 150 parks, 15 swimming pools and aquatic facilities, 220 miles of pathways, and 200 miles of streetscape. While in The Woodlands, he has implemented cost recovery strategies, developed business/operational plans for major and minor facilities, and has increase programming 200% with no additional staff. He speaks around the country (over 420+ sessions) on topics including: business plans, contracting, creative programming, marketing, external funding, communication, leadership and succession planning. In addition, he serves or has served on the, Oglebay Revenue Management School (Chair 2020), NRPA Council on Accreditation, National Certification Board (NCB), Rocky Mountain Revenue Management School (Chair 2012), founded the Gulf Coast Leadership Development Institute, NRPA Admin Network (Chair 2013-2014) and is a Certified Parks and Recreation Executive. Chris also serves on the GP RED National Operating Board. In 2012, Chris was elected as a fellow of the American Academy of Parks and Recreation Administrators and in 2015 he received the National Distinguished Professional Award from NRPA. In 2016-2017 he was the President of the American Academy of Parks and Recreation Administrators, in 2019 The Woodlands Township was recognized by NRPA by winning the Gold Medal Grand Plaque Award for excellence in parks and recreation management and in 2020, The Woodlands Township received NRPA’s Conservation Innovation Award. Prior to The Woodlands, he was the Director of Community Services for the City of Fort Morgan, Colorado, an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the Recreation Management Program at Ashland University and Director of Parks and Recreation in Fort Kent, Maine. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management and a master’s degree in Sports Management from Springfield College in Massachusetts and a Doctorate in Parks and Recreation Administration from the University of New Mexico.
