Thursday Workshop
Community Engagement and Nonformal Education: Guidelines for Excellence Workshop
8:30 am- 4:30 pm
The Guidelines for Excellence is a series of materials to help environmental educators hone their practice and programs to national standards for high-quality EE programming. This 6-hour workshop will weave together two of the publications in the Guidelines for Excellence series from the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE).
As the newest publication, the Community Engagement:Guidelines for Excellence focuses on community wellness and is designed to help environmental educators create inclusive environments that support effective partnerships and collaborations; including a variety of strategies to identify new individuals/organizations, strengthen relationships with existing partners, and reach beyond the “usual suspects” to make new connections.
We will also explore how to develop new high quality environmental education programs and improve current programs using the Nonformal Education: Guidelines For Excellence. These Guidelines are great for educators who want to learn more about needs assessment, assessing organizational capacity, program design and delivery, and the importance of evaluation.
Eligible for Criteria I credit in the NC EE certification program!
